Ever since the announcement of Frostgrave: Second Edition, people have been asking if the supplements for the first edition will
still be valid. Well, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – Yes!
With the exception of The Grimorie (the spellcards), all
seven supplement books and the Ulterior Motives cards are still usable with the
new edition.
In fact, I have included an appendix in the Second
Edition book specifically to address this question.
Well, today, Osprey Games have decided to make that
Appendix freely available. Now you can see for yourself, exactly what affect
the new rules have had on those old books. (See the Appendix Here)
Also, there is a really cool piece of aRu-Mor artwork
in there – so take a look!
Artwork on page 100 is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that the suplements stil can be used with the 2nd edition. but will this also be the case with the optional rules provided in the varrious spellcaster magazines. such as rules for mounted combat etc.
ReplyDeleteFor the most part, yes. The critical spell success and failures will need an update...
DeleteDear Sir, I must commend you for the care you have taken to not render the first edition supplements obsolete, an approach I wish more designers would take as it shows the respect for their audience as well as their past work. Thank you for bringing forth a refresher to this amazing game :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot less changes that I had expencted - excellent work!
ReplyDeleteLoving the new art. It feels true to the 1st edition stuff, while obviously being a new artist.
Nice and concise! Well done. I am going to make some sticky notes in the books (I own them all) to refer to the changes in the Appendix.
ReplyDeleteI am still interested in when we will get a new "The Grimorie (the spellcards)" I am aware there was a lot of changes, I would like to know if there will be a new set or if I can just sleeve the cards and add paper or sticker to the sleeve with the changes.
Outstanding! Thank you for thinking of the fans.
ReplyDeleteExcellent thanks Joe!

DeleteAre those the plastic specialists in the photo?
ReplyDeleteNot too much change, nice and clear and simple.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see how much has been kept relevant from all of the supplements. I guess that, as the original game was solid, changes have been limited to correcting imbalance and tiding up the rules. I really like the Celtic Knotwork/Ruins in the corners of the pages; and the colour artwork is spiffing too.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any knowledge whether there'll be a Frostgrave 2 soldiers, and most importantly Frostgrave 2 soldiers 2? Making armoured characters is quite easy for males, but there's a bit of a lack of believable heavily armoured female characters.
