Frostgrave: Dark Alchemy Playtest
For all of the talk about gnolls and wooly rhinos, the next Frostgrave supplement to be released will actually be a little ebook called Dark Alchemy. I just submitted the final manuscript to the editor a couple of days ago. When I started work on Dark Alchemy, I thought it was mainly going to be an expansion about potions, and that still forms about half of the book. However, the other half, and the part I enjoyed writing more, was the Dark Alchemy campaign. This is a set of three, closely linked adventures - but with a twist. You see, this campaign is designed to played either solo, or by two players working together. It's been a real challenge, and I had to do a lot more playtesting on these scenarios than I normally do. Hopefully, in the end, I've got the balance right.

A three game, co-op campaign is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteIs it aimed at starting warband? Experienced warbands? Perhaps it's flexible enough to accommodate either.
Sounds like a lot of fun regardless.

ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that! Also, super jealous of your terrain pieces!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to hear this game is being fleshed out with Sellsword and getting the Solo/co-op treatment with this release. To be totally honest, I had left the game due to it being too simple for my tastes; I am very impressed with these supplements I think it is becoming what I had originally hoped it was (a successor to Mordheim).
ReplyDeleteWith the return of Mordheim and Necromundu looming, I am glad to see you are honing and crafting this skirmish game into something that will not only compete, but shine alongside!
Also, any news on when a print compilation will be available of all the e-book mini releases? (I am old school - need a printed page!)
:)
Keep up the awesome work!
I'm looking forward to that supplement as solo adventures sounds just right.
ReplyDeleteSo exited for this! I had a similar idea for an Introduction solo campaign for new players :)
ReplyDeleteWe need a Co-op Campaign. That would be f**** awesome. The Mages of Frostgrave form an Alliance to get Treasures in the most Dangerous Zones of the blasted City!
ReplyDeleteBut furthermore: We need that as Book with 10+ Missions.
Please? ;)
Looks great. One issue though where can we submit errata suggestions / questions?
ReplyDeleteWell, it's too late for Dark Alchemy as it has been turned in, but you can always drop me an email with any suggestions or questions. Or hope over to the Frostgrave forum on Lead Adventure!
ReplyDeleteCool beans. I just got on over there and found the Frostgrave section.

ReplyDeleteHi Joe, When is the date for the ebook release?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
BTW. Congrats for the game!!! It´s superb
It should be out on April 20!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the info!!!
DeleteThank you, thank you, thank you for making a co-op version of this game! I can play this with my sons now.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad but my sons just simply don't want to play anything head-to-head. They just refuse to beat their dad. Feel sorry for me I guess. :)
Anyway, we've been making terrain and are looking forward to the release of this book! I've already pre-ordered through Google books.
