I am continuing to paint figures for the Warriors of Athena game I am going to run at GengisCon in February, and here are the first two Heroes!
The figure on the left is a rebased Reaper Bones figure. Now, there are no true 'spellcasters' in Warriors of Athena, but there are a few Heroic Abilities that look a bit like spells. So, he might be the slightly more supportive Hero.
On the right, we've got one of the frontline fighters. This is a metal miniature from Lucid Eye with a plastic shield. Both of these ranges fall under the heading of 'Heroic Scale 28mm' and thus fit together really well.
I still need two more and then a few companions for the game... and still a few monsters short as well.

They look great - what paints are you using to get that skin tone, if you don’t mind me asking?
ReplyDeleteVallejo Biege Brown worked up to Beige Red.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting pairing - you did well to spot the potential. I like the staff with the Owl.

Hi Joe, I'm a big fan of yours. Frostgrave is maybe my favorite skirmish wargame ever and I've also enjoyed Silver Bayonet and Stargrave. If you had to give an elevator pitch to get your Frostgrave friends interested in playing Warriors of Athena, what would you say? I know there's obviously the setting difference and I would think more opportunity for cooperative play especially with support for the oracle. Anything else you can say that might get people excited? Is there potentially support for other ancient peoples like Persians, Egyptians, or maybe Rome? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNice!
